Frequently asked questions

Questions are a
good place to start.

No gym knowledge required. Here are clear answers to the things people often want to know before getting in touch.

Getting started

Do I need to be fit before I start?

No. Sessions begin at your current level and are adapted as your confidence and capacity grow.

What happens in the free consultation?

It is a relaxed conversation about your goals, health information, preferences and practical questions. There is no workout and no obligation.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothes you can move in and supportive trainers are enough. You do not need specialist gym clothing.

What is the first training session like?

You will discuss your plan, learn a few simple movements and establish a comfortable starting point. It is not a pass-or-fail fitness test.

Sessions and practicalities

Where do sessions take place?

Carmel coaches in and around Kidbrooke, Greenwich and Blackheath, including suitable outdoor spaces. Online coaching is also available. Exact arrangements are confirmed during your consultation.

Do I need equipment?

No. Carmel will tell you what is provided and whether anything simple would be useful between sessions.

Do you offer online coaching?

Yes. Online support can include live sessions, programme guidance, check-ins and lifestyle coaching depending on your needs.

What does personal training cost?

Pricing depends on the format, frequency and location. Carmel will explain the relevant options clearly after understanding what you need; there is no pressure to purchase during the free consultation.

What availability do you have?

Availability changes, so the quickest route is to send an enquiry with your preferred days and times. Carmel will reply with current options.

Health and confidence

Can I train with a medical condition?

Many people with long-term conditions can benefit from appropriate activity. Share relevant information before starting. Carmel may ask you to consult your GP or another clinician where needed.

What if I have pain or an injury?

Tell Carmel before and during sessions. Training can often be modified, but persistent, severe or unexplained pain needs appropriate clinical assessment.

Can you support menopause?

Carmel can adapt training around changing energy, recovery and confidence and support general healthy habits. She does not diagnose or treat menopause symptoms.

Will I be pushed to exhaustion?

No. Challenge is individual. A productive session can leave you feeling energised and capable; exhaustion is not the measure of quality.
